Record-breaking perfect bracket busts at game 50 with Purdue’s OT win over Tennessee
After 50 matches of this 2019 NCAA tournament, the streak is over. There aren’t any longer perfect brackets.
The temporarily famous”centre road” bracket, which had accurately predicted the first 49 games of March Madness, suffered its first loss in the next match of the Sweet 16 when 3-seed Purdue conquer 2-seed Tennessee in overtime.
The bracket was entered within our Capital One NCAA March Madness Bracket Challenge game by 40-year-old neuropsychologist Gregg Nigl, that wasn’t even aware of the record-breaking streak until NCAA.com called him Monday, after the next round of this tournament.

Before this year, the longest we’d ever seen a mount go unblemished was 39 straight games, which occurred in 2017 (we describe why we’re so sure of the amount below). Nigl’s”center road” bracket smashed that listing.
