Gabriel Martinelli scored just two goals and set up another as a Arsenal side turned on the style to thrash Standard Liege 4-0 in their Europa League Group F assembly.
Teenager Martinelli, a #6m signing from side Ituano through the summer, started the scoring with a great header after 13 minutes and then netted his second having a low, curling finish only 3 minutes after, making it four objectives from two games following his dual against Nottingham Forest at the Carabao Cup.
Joe Willock reach Arsenal’s third goal (22) following a shot against fellow academy grad Reiss Nelson deflected into his path inside the normal Liege box, together with Dani Ceballos completing the scoring in the second half, poking Martinelli’s deft cross over the line to get his first goal for the club (57).
Unai Emery’s negative missed a series of chances to extend their lead in the final stages, however, the victory is just another step towards the Europa League knockout stages subsequent to the 3-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in their opening group match.
