Solheim Cup stories: Laura Davies becomes Europe’s all-time scorer
Dame Laura Davies makes her Solheim Cup come back in a backroom role at Gleneagles, eight years from getting the most prosperous player in the championship’s history.
Davies represented Team Europe in the first 12 editions of this event, finishing on the side that was winning four times, with all the Englishwoman signing her off Solheim Cup career that was acting in style throughout the 2011 tournament.
The important champion of the four-time women arrived at Killeen Castle since player to tee it up for Europe, after overtaken by Catriona Matthew, with Davies having a stage to replace Annika Sorenstam because the all-time album scorer of Europe.
But better fortunes were to emerge, where they had been conquered by Morgan Pressel and Paula Creamer on the green rookie Mel Reid was partnered by davies from the Friday fourballs.
Even the duo joined forces again to despatch Michelle Wie along with Brittany Lang 4and 3 in the Saturday afternoon session, moving Davies before Sorenstam’s record of 24 points.
Davies would move on to bring an extra halve in the Sunday singles, shifting on into 25 things, as Europe maintained a victory in Ireland and putting the spoils.
