Sheffield United are ‘bullish’ about Arsenal fixture, says Chris Wilder
Chris Wilder states Sheffield United will maintain their”bullish” approach to Premier League matches when they sponsor high-flying Arsenal on Monday.
The Blades have won two points from their opening eight matches in their own return to the English top flight and missed out on a draw against league leaders Liverpool month following the error of goalkeeper Dean Henderson.
Wilder explains the challenge introduced by leading his boyhood club against the top as an”occasion” and insists that his team do not have an inferiority complex – even against a side who sit third and have lost one game less than champions Manchester City.
“We are aggressive and we better our chances,” Wilder said.
“We are bullish because you can clearly envision because that’s the approach we take. We were against Liverpool.
“The audience are absolutely amazing at home and that is not rubbing their heads because they know just how important it is for them to be on front and make it more aggressive and noisy.
“The last supervisor who arrived here [Jurgen Klopp] commented [the atmosphere] too, which had been a real pat on the rear for the way our earth was put up and atmosphere inside ,” he added.
“We’ll need that on Monday night and I am certain that will take place. A night game at Bramall Lane under the lights, live on Sky, something that we are actually looking forward to and getting after the resistance but understanding the caliber they have got.”
Wilder thinks his side’s performances in Bramall Lane have deserved as the club try to keep their Premier League status next year although sheffield United have won six of their points on the road.
“I think we’ve been a defensive-minded team which is extremely encouraging and gives us lots of confidence,” he explained.
“We’ve got after teams, we got after Liverpool in the moment that we could and chose our times and we’re going to get to do exactly the same against Arsenal on Monday.”
Despite Arsenal’s strong start to the league campaign head coach Unai Emery has confronted pressure within his position in certain quarters but Wilder states as a manager you learn to ignore the”sound and nonsense” that comes with the job.
“They’ll know that they have got quality because category and as a manager,” that the Blades manager said.
“We all must put our hands on our ears sometimes and block out all of the sound and put on with all the most important thing which is winning points and adding to that total.”
Wilder has backed after the goalkeeper voiced his view he could become the finest in the world, Manchester United loanee Dean Henderson to create the step.
Henderson imputed Blades goalkeeping coach Darren Ward because of his advancement Wilder is filled with compliments for his goalkeeper and since he joined with the club throughout their advertising period last period.
“I have complete confidence in [Darren]. It’s always my fault when Dean makes an error and when he is brilliant Darren gets the charge – that is how it goes!” Wilder said.
“He is a confident boy, he is a favorite boy. He’s worked really hard to get to this place and he needs more. I really like that attitude and it runs through my squad”
