The Nationals have time to observe, however, since they turn their attention to this Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field this weekend. The Cubs are contending for the top spot in the NL Central. It is a slim lead over the Cardinals, although they are now in the lead. If the Cubs played all of their remaining games at home, then it’d be great luck to St. Louis. That’s not how it works. The Cubs finish the regular season with six consecutive matches on the street, including the season finale at St. Louis. The NL Central probably comes down so that is a major advantage for the Cards.
Chicago must do well when they’ve opportunities in the home. That is where they have cashed in all season long and need to take advantage of Wrigley whenever they can. While they on the road, the Cubs have been 44-19 in the home going into this weekend. That is not likely to function at the postseason for a staff who doesn’t have homefield advantage. The Cubs were becoming a little nervous about Jon Lester and his arm. He wasn’t pitching like the ace of this team after Lester was discharged for 16 runs in 9 innings against the Cardinals and Athletics and harm concerns were new on the minds of most lovers. He needed a standout performance against the Pirates in his most recent trip and settled against the Reds. As he surrendered 4 hits and no earned runs across 6 innings of work, lester was dominant in that one.

The Nationals were rising Pittsburgh and I cashed in a couple of tickets on them against the Pirates. This is a far larger job contrary to the Cubs at a hostile environment.
