Rays vs. Astros: Free MLB Series Picks and Predictions
Playoff meeting between these businesses.
Houston headed baseball with 107 wins this regular season but dropped four vs. Tampa Bay; the Astros were 2-1 at home if they last played Aug. 27-29. The teams opened the 2019 year against one another in St. Petersburg, therefore difficult to take much out of that.
The Rays struck .255 with eight home runs in the seven matches. Avisail Garcia, that went yard in the game, was 7-for-19 using a double. Willy Adames hit .333 with a homer and 3 RBIs. Diaz was .308 but played in only three games. Ji-Man Choi was 5-for-18 with 2 homers and five RBIs. Austin Meadows, who led Tampa in virtually every offensive category this season, hit just .148.
Houston struck .266 vs. Rays pitching with 12 homers. Rookie sensation Yordan Alvarez has been 4-for-11 using six runs, two homers and four RBIs in the three matches he playedwith. Alex Bregman was 8-for-29 with 2 doubles and a homer. Jose Altuve hit .241 with two homers.
One large injury notice this is that Astros shortstop Carlos Correa may play Game 1 after missing the seasons previous week due to a sore backagain.
Tampa Bays genius is Charlie Morton, who rejuvenated his profession the previous two seasons. Morton won the sport in Oakland by allowing one run and five hits over five innings. When it shifts to Florida he wont now be ready till Game 3 of this series.
Itll Be likely AL Cy Young winner Justin Verlander of Houston vs. Tyler Glasnow in Game 1. Verlander (21-6, 2.58 ERA) led the majors in wins and was first in the AL in innings (233) and WHIP (0.80) while ranking second in strikeouts (300) and ERA. He has tons of play experience. Glasnow (6-1, 1.78) has none whatsoever. He made only 12 starts this year due to injury; Glasnow only returned in early September and did not go more than 4.1 innings in four starts. He is unlikely to go deep — the Rays have a great bullpen and manager Kevin Cash is not scared to pull out his starters (except maybe Morton) very early.
Game 2 features another AL Cy Young offender in Gerrit Cole (20-5, 2.50) vs. 2018 Cy Young winner along with lefty Blake Snell (6-8, 4.29) of this Rays. Snell made three September looks at six innings and missed about two weeks because of injuries. He will not be moving heavy.
Game 3 features midseason trade acquisition and former AL Cy Young winner Zack Greinke (18-5, 2.93) from Morton.
Houston gets the pitching edge that is starting that is enormous, but their rotation isnt used by the Rays like any other group. Tampa Bays bullpen might have to be almost untouchable for the Rays to possess any shot. We dont see it.
